Here’s a designer I had the pleasure of seeing on the runway for New Orleans Fashion Week…he goes by the name of Romey Roe. This celebrity designer attended the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. Check him out and make sure you share with your friends about New Orleans Fashion Week!
And here’s some video for you!!!!
Enjoy the day ✨
Prior to going to my first Fashion Week event in New Orleans, I had a small hint of anxiety. Its almost like going to a new school on the other side of town. The surroundings are foreign, you find yourself a bit lost and unsure. But then……you see something that’s familiar….like the kid from your old school that transferred just like you did. Now the moment is erased of unease and has been replaced with a sense of propinquity.
That’s how I felt, walking into Fashion Week alone, not knowing anyone and trying to find my footing. As I watched the runway show and took photos, that sense of ease came when I heard the hostess announcing NOLA Couture. It was a company I knew of, pulling me into the moment, not only as a lonely, wondering blogger, but as a spectator, watching a place that I am familiar with be apart of the show. Speaking of the show, here’s my video of NOLA Couture and their runway collection for New Orleans Fashion Week 2018!
In my travels throughout my life, I’ve noticed that a person’s face, a song, a location, an aroma…..things like this can remind you of something. Often, we can remember things vividly with such things to aid us. When Beyonce came on the scene with the song ‘Diva’ and wore those iconic shades at the beginning of the video, I was in a trance. Never did I imagine that I would one day get to meet the mastermind behind that piece of work. Those shades were made by no other than the celebrity designer, Stevie Boi (StevieBoi.com).
You know I had to bring a little twist to the experience, all in love. Please enjoy my video, photos of the venue and the shade collection Stevie Boi brought to New Orleans Fashion Week 2018.
More videos to come!!!!
To be a native of Louisiana and finally experience New Orleans Fashion Week was like a dream come true. Coming into Fashion Week, I was clearly intimated by the location of the venues, sharing rooms with celebrities, models, designers, socialites. Attending as a blogger and not a model put my mindset in a new level of stress to ‘perform’ if you will. Being in the right position, getting the right shot, and so many other things plagued my mind – that is until I got there.
Despite it being the last night of New Orleans Fashion Week 2018, the venue was set and my destination was The Monastery. Although I am from Baton Rouge, knowing the location of the venue meant that it would not disappoint. One of the many designer’s collection that captivated me was Clinton Whitney Downing. Clinton is known for his raw eye for fashion as a designer and his forward-thinking as an overall artist. This world is simply being graced with his talent. Check out his collection for the show:
And the finale!
Clinton Whitney Downing can be found here at his website. One of many talented artists who allowed us to view their amazing and beautiful work. What a year for fashion!
