My, my……what do we have here? It seems that the trend of 40 shades is starting to quickly catch on in the beauty community. Enter Dior with their Dior Backstage Face and Body foundation. So let’s get into the goodies about this new foundation on the block.
According to Dior.com,
The Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation is the Dior makeup artists’ secret weapon to create an instantly flawless complexion with ultra-buildable coverage, from a natural nude glow to high-coverage perfection.
The Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation is tested and approved by 100% of Dior professional makeup artists.* With its fluid texture and second skin finish, this ultra-buildable foundation offers custom-made intensity.
*** Extreme condition-proof for 91% of women.
** Photo-ready finish for 95% of women. (dior.com)
So along with this high percentage of being condition-proof, I’m not too sure what they are referring to. Is that saying its resistant to the heat or moisture?… if I hug a guy, I won’t get makeup on his shirt….if I brush too hard to take off my setting powder, will it stay put? That seems up for debate.
Now, here is what Dior says about the actual formula:
Enriched with beauty-enhancing pigments, the formula fuses with skin that glows for a perfect, natural complexion in real life and through the camera’s lens.
The waterproof formula of the Dior Backstage Face & Body foundation creates an invisible mesh on the skin and resists extreme conditions: workout sessions, water, extreme temperatures and humid environments. It even resists the bright lights both backstage and above the catwalk. (dior.com)
Now that, my friend, is a reason to really try this product out. Claims to have an ‘invisible mesh’ to the finish on the skin to counter the possible effects of sweat, water, and humidity…..gurl! It seems to be even flashback resistant. Wow! Here’s how they suggest you apply it:
Light nude coverage:
Use your fingers to gently dab 1 layer of foundation and massage onto face.Medium coverage:
Apply 2 layers with Light Coverage Foundation Brush N 11 from the center of the face outwards.Full perfection coverage:
Apply up to 3 layers of foundation in circular motions.
As much as I am beauty blender crazy, I would be willing to try this foundation with a brush. One of my issues with brush application is that the brush seems to soak up a lot of the product. Now the interesting thing that makes me want to try the product is that they suggest to apply it in a circular motion. Gurl…..WITH MY FINGER??????🤞🏽 Good luck with flawless application with that!
I would personally assume that applying in that motion would leave a streaky look, instead of an air-brushed or blended finish. While this foundation dries to a matte, I’m curious to know if it dries fast and resistant to transferring onto clothing.
While there are no reviews to assess yet, I’m expecting this product to be the newest addiction to the elegant Dior collection.
There is something to be admired about a person who refuses to be deterred or ignore because they are ‘new’ on the scene. Enter Damir Doma. Doma is a Croatian born luxury designer. Although he graduated from fashion school in 2004, he has studied the likes in Munich and Berlin. He has been referenced in recent hip hop songs and is followed closely and work is admired by celebrities such as Rihanna, Kanye West, Lenny Kravitz, and Rosario Dawson. Here are examples of his work:
While being a self-taught designer, Vandal is said to have created ‘Ovo‘ elaborate costumes with inspiration from the innovative designers Issey Miyake and Pierre Cardin. According to her official website, “2018 will see two major productions with Vandal costumes : “The Wizard of OZ” premiering in October 2018 and “Alice in Wonderland” presented by the Honk Kong Ballet”. So, have you come across your favorite beauty products and then stumble across others that may seem to be better than the ones you love???? Just shocking! Here are some of my favorites and some I just happened to find on the Internet.
One of my shockers I stumbled across. Sigma Beauty is a company not carried by Ulta or Sephora so in the United States, its pretty tricky to get them without going to the official website. Their Sigma Holographic Lipgloss is show stopper!!!!! The colors are vibrant, luscious, and made to come for the children 😱 🦄
MARVELOUS MOXIE BY BARE MINERALS
With this gorgeous color shifting beauty, I feel like Bare Minerals overheard the beauty community talking about how their colors are all so very neutral but keep putting out new palettes and lipsticks. Like honey……thank you for the switch because I am LIVING for this color!
MOTIVES COSMETICS LIPGLOSS
OMG, are you seeing the bling and shine from the lipgloss form Motives Cosmetics??? It looks like a cross between Roman glass and New Year’s Eve. Motives Cosmetics is known for their amazing lip collection, although you can’t just ‘walk’ into your local beauty store in the United States and pick it up, but I assure you, it’s worth the hunt. Girl, you don’t have to hunt, I got the website for you right here 💃🏽
Okay so this post may be a bit touchy but, whatever, right? Anyone that has been in the makeup world for a while or has had their makeup done by professionals over the years can tell you that the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder is the standard. For some magical reason, it seems that no matter how good you are at doing your makeup, this translucent setting powder takes your beauty game to the next level. Even if you did not know what it was, you’ve seen the container. It seems that when you buy this powder, it lasts forever. Here’s a photo of it:
Yes. There she is ↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑ The magical, unicorn dandruff called Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder. Sigh…….
Well, what you are also likely to know, or after you take a trip to stores that carry this voodoo in a plastic container, is that its expensive too! Weighing into your purse at a whooping $38.00, it has been often discussed on which products are the valid dupes, saving us poor makeup geeks a few 💸💰 Here are the possibilities out there:

With over 81% of its users recommending it, the NYX Matte Setting Powder is a well-known product. But a Laura Mercier dupe? Those are big shoes to fill.
Easy to apply (34 reviews)
Lightweight (31 reviews)
Controls shine (27 reviews)
Long-lasting (27 reviews)
Doesn’t settle in creases (26 reviews)
Messy (20 reviews)
While being a well-known and loved product, I am not surprised that people are calling E.L.F. a justified dupe for Laura Mercier’s setting powder. One thing I can agree with the review of this setting powder is that its probably the messiest.
What’s your favorite setting powder dupe to Laura Mercier’s Translucent Setting Powder? Do you even think there is one, or should we just spend the coin and get the original. Leave a comment and let us know 🙂
