New Orleans Fashion Week 2018 – NOLA Couture

¬† ¬† ¬†Prior to going to my first Fashion Week event in New Orleans, I had a small hint of anxiety. Its almost like going to a new school on the other side of town. The surroundings are foreign, you find yourself a bit lost and unsure. But then……you see something that’s familiar….like the kid from your old school that transferred just like you did. Now the moment is erased of unease and has been replaced with a sense of propinquity. ¬† ¬† ¬†That’s how I felt, walking into Fashion Week alone, not knowing anyone and trying to find my footing. As I watched the runway show and took photos, that sense of ease came when I heard the hostess announcing NOLA Couture. It was a company I knew of, pulling me into the moment, not only as a lonely, wondering blogger, but as a spectator, watching a place that I am familiar with be apart of the show. Speaking

NOFW 2018 – Clinton Whitney Downing

¬† ¬† ¬†To be a native of Louisiana and finally experience New Orleans Fashion Week was like a dream come true. Although I am from Baton Rouge, knowing the location of the venue meant that it would not disappoint. One of the many designer’s collection that captivated me was Clinton Whitney Downing. Clinton is known for his raw eye for fashion as a designer and his forward-thinking as an

An update on ‘Dee’ and What’s Your Chic

First off, I want to thank my supporters and followers on WordPress. Initially, I was apprehensive about even showing my face for fear of potential customers not wanting to take interest in my boutique and other platforms because I’m a woman of color. Thank you, thank you, thank you……the encouragement has helped me pushed myself out of the shadows. –Nails: ¬†Michelle So’Deaupp –Photography:¬†Robert C Wiliams/ RCWPhotography– Although I’m still a work in progress and constantly working to build¬†What’s Your Chic, I owe my journey thus far to you. Because of your motivation, I’m still here, sharing with the world and stepping into my own light. MUCH LOVE Dee
