Here are the new items currently at your local Ulta stores. Let’s also check out what the reviews are saying also:
So, the first thing I was thinking when I heard about this product release was, ‘Is this a play on the Too Faced ‘Better Than Sex’ mascara’? But…then they made these claims and then I was like ‘here we go’…..
I mean, excuse me NARS…are we playing the percentage game also? A while back, Too Faced cosmetics got called out for doing somewhat of the same but it came down to how to determine the percentage and it was just all a bit odd and turned some customers a bit off. Anyway, on the the reviews so far:
😐😐😐😐😐😐😐 Nothing, so far.
I guess because the product is so new, there are no reviews on Ulta’s website yet but….. usually there are a lot of makeup lovers, waiting for a product to be released so they can give us an honest and well thought-out review. Nothing as of yet. On to the next product:
I was super excited to see that this foundation was exclusive to Ulta! Sephora is known to carry products exclusively and its great to see that Ulta is getting the same kind of love. Its amazing to see that this new foundation is full coverage, lumi finish. I can’t wait to see the reviews and YouTube videos on this one. I won’t be making a YouTube video on this particular foundation because I tend to stay away from full coverage.
Since I’m a lipgloss girl, this product really got my attention. Too Faced says its Juicy Fruits lip glaze gives ‘one swipe payoff’ and a long wear time with a glossy finish. A lot to expect from a lipgloss, but please make me a believer!
Okay Too Faced, you tired it and I got to give you the credit. First, peel-off eyeliner…now we got liquid eyeshadow in a lipgloss tube. While I’m here for the concept for your ‘on the go’ because I’m used to eyeshadow palettes, but the price mark at $22.00, I’m predicting will be the make-or-break for this product’s initial sales. Just thinking that this product will have to reduce its price sooner than Too Faced will want it to.
Here are other new products at Ulta, mainly from Too Faced’s Tutti-Frutti collection:
Known as the ‘brainchild’ of famed actress and creator Drew Barrymore, Flower Beauty as been on the scene for some time now. While spreading her message of empowerment of women through her brand, Drew Barrymore ensures that her customers know that her products are also cruelty-free.
Flower Beauty is known for some legitimate dupes to other high-end luxury makeup brands, which bring me to the other good thing about this brand…..the price range. Most makeup products range between $8 to $16.99, including their foundation, which is $13.99 on Ulta.com. So, let’s get into the products:
Let’s see what they have to say about Flower Beauty’s foundation:
It seems that the foundation has mixed reviews, but let’s be honest, its pretty difficult to get high rankings when it comes to makeup. With so many people and so many different skin types, having these types of ratings among the masses is a good thing and makes Flower Beauty worth trying. Personally, I can’t wait to get into my local Ulta store and try their chubby highlighters. It looks like something I can use, throw in my purse and it not get lost in the clutter 😃
Okay so this post may be a bit touchy but, whatever, right? Anyone that has been in the makeup world for a while or has had their makeup done by professionals over the years can tell you that the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder is the standard. For some magical reason, it seems that no matter how good you are at doing your makeup, this translucent setting powder takes your beauty game to the next level. Even if you did not know what it was, you’ve seen the container. It seems that when you buy this powder, it lasts forever. Here’s a photo of it:
Yes. There she is ↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑ The magical, unicorn dandruff called Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder. Sigh…….
Well, what you are also likely to know, or after you take a trip to stores that carry this voodoo in a plastic container, is that its expensive too! Weighing into your purse at a whooping $38.00, it has been often discussed on which products are the valid dupes, saving us poor makeup geeks a few 💸💰 Here are the possibilities out there:
Yes, can we stand up and give Dermablend a round of applause please? According to Ulta’s website Here are the results:

I have not used Dermablend’s setting powder before but its used quite often by some of my favorite makeup YouTubers. They pray to this stuff ✨
Lightweight (419 reviews)
Easy to apply (404 reviews)
Controls shine (395 reviews)
Blends well (323 reviews)
Covers well (274 reviews)
Messy (175 reviews)
Unnatural color (74 reviews)
Settles in creases (73 reviews)
Poor coverage (54 reviews)
Cakes up (32 reviews)
With over 81% of its users recommending it, the NYX Matte Setting Powder is a well-known product. But a Laura Mercier dupe? Those are big shoes to fill.
Easy to apply (34 reviews)
Lightweight (31 reviews)
Controls shine (27 reviews)
Long-lasting (27 reviews)
Doesn’t settle in creases (26 reviews)
Messy (20 reviews)
While being a well-known and loved product, I am not surprised that people are calling E.L.F. a justified dupe for Laura Mercier’s setting powder. One thing I can agree with the review of this setting powder is that its probably the messiest.
What’s your favorite setting powder dupe to Laura Mercier’s Translucent Setting Powder? Do you even think there is one, or should we just spend the coin and get the original. Leave a comment and let us know 🙂
Throughout my travels in an unbiased quest to bring to my audience fashion and the unique designers behind them, my recent travels took me into the city of Chicago, affectionately known as the ‘Heart of America’. My destination in the Windy City? Midwest Fashion Week of course, which was founded and guided by Mr. Berny Martin.
As a fan of Mr. Martin’s work, I have followed Midwest Fashion Week over the years as they have acquired numerous mentions in notable magazines such as IndyStar.com (USA Today), ELLE Men, and Ok! Magazine. Midwest Fashion Week not only brings forth talent and visions via the runway, but also raises money for charities and non-profit organizations.
Mr. Martin is no ordinary Haitian-born gentleman with just ‘good taste’, but an international fashionrevolutionary in his own right. Notably a graduate of Purdue University, Berny Martin is also the Founder and CEO of Catou Wear, which serves on leaps and bounds beyond simply ‘made’ fashion designs.
Martin’s Catou Wear brings on a personalization of tailoring, sophistication, elegance and flare. His love and passion for customizing designs to compliment the client’s personality proves true, even in his own personal attire. A gentleman indeed and a lover of the craft, Berny Martin has been bringing stunning artistry to the runway all over the world. I personally came into contact with Catou Wear via Couture Fashion Week in 2015, Times Square, New York.
As I bring to you the designers of MidWest Fashion Week, please know that hard work, dedication and love of the art assisted Mr. Berny Martin and his team in making this magic come to life.
Here’s a designer I had the pleasure of seeing on the runway for New Orleans Fashion Week…he goes by the name of Romey Roe. This celebrity designer attended the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. Check him out and make sure you share with your friends about New Orleans Fashion Week!
Prior to going to my first Fashion Week event in New Orleans, I had a small hint of anxiety. Its almost like going to a new school on the other side of town. The surroundings are foreign, you find yourself a bit lost and unsure. But then……you see something that’s familiar….like the kid from your old school that transferred just like you did. Now the moment is erased of unease and has been replaced with a sense of propinquity.
That’s how I felt, walking into Fashion Week alone, not knowing anyone and trying to find my footing. As I watched the runway show and took photos, that sense of ease came when I heard the hostess announcing NOLA Couture. It was a company I knew of, pulling me into the moment, not only as a lonely, wondering blogger, but as a spectator, watching a place that I am familiar with be apart of the show. Speaking of the show, here’s my video of NOLA Couture and their runway collection for New Orleans Fashion Week 2018!
