In this post, we are going to be looking at some independent brands and the products that they have recently released.
While the Trixie fans saw this coming, Sugar Pill has launched its collaboration with this famous icon. This limited edition eyeshadow palette is part of a collection, with colors made up of mattes, metallics, frost colors and a blush. In this dazzling collector’s edition, a liquid lip color comes in the box, making this package a truly iconic presentation. While this product is currently sold out, most of the reviews say this collection is highly pigmented, easy to blend, and the packaging is just adorable!
A fresh face in the cosmetic industry, Brija Cosmetics has been gracing the internet with beautiful handmade, cruelty-free makeup. One of their new products they have released for the fall are their new matte liquid lipstick colors. Here they are:
No it isn’t a makeup indie-brand but they have oils, skin care, and wonderful products for your bath. Their products are 100% vegan.
Yes, I know some of you were wondering if I was going to say something about this. Okay, when I heard about the potential sale of Versace to Michael Kors a couple of days ago, I was in the airport trying to catch my flight. When I saw the tweets and then the articles this morning, I nearly choked on my breakfast. What was even more interesting were the reactions to these turn of events.
While most of us were hit with shock, awe, and excitement, I can truly say that Michael Kors has been on an aggressive climb in the world of fashion and business. So let’s be honest here: if Michael Kors was not considered a ‘giant’ in the fashion industry in the past, they are now. Not only with its recent acquiring of Versace, but a series of strategically-placed events. What some are forgetting is that this is not the first time in which Michael Kors has made a major investment within the fashion industry. Back in 2017, Michael Kors bought Jimmy Choo for an estimated £896 million ($1.1 billion). Now, while still expanding with stores all over the world, Michael Kors announced a deal to by the fashion house of Versace for an estimated $2.1 billion and then change the name of MKH Limited to Capri to couple with the expansion of its empire.
While this is a major reign of accomplishments for the American designer and his empire, some Versace fans were not too happy about the merg. When the news hit Twitter, there were a swarm of mixed feelings:
With the reading of Twitter, it seems fans are concerned with the potential downplay of the empire that is Versace, but I don’t see it happening. Check out Versace’s most recent collection at Milan Fashion Week
So….was it something you were waiting for, because I know myself and others in the beauty community were anticipating this as well. Norvina, the new eyeshadow palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills. While not available in Ulta or Sephora until August 5th, this palette was is currently available online for purchase on ABH’s website. Lucky for us, some of my favorite YouTubers have gotten their hands on this palette and I am here for the tea.
Alright so let’s get into this palette:
On the first look, the Norvina eyeshadow palette gives us the look just as the Subculture, Modern Renaissance and Soft Glam palettes. Soft, velour-type feel to the cover of the palette, putting you definitely in the mood and prepared to be blown away by the shades that are inside this gorgeous little oddity. So…..what kind of reactions did we get from our favorite makeup artists? Let’s check it out:
One of my favorite YouTubers out of south Texas who is known for giving us potent fantasy through makeup and drag. Have you seen this beauty?
While known for her drag fantasy makeup, its hard to not acknowledge her raw talent for artistry.
Who else to give us the realness on the new Norvina palette other than ✨LUSHIOUS MASSACR✨
Now, when I initially saw the palette, I was appreciative of the palette name ‘Base’, letting users known its purpose. After I got over the appreciation of that, I was thinking one thing and one thing only. Lucky for me, Lushious Massacr was bold enough to say it for us in her YouTube video at the 1:56 mark of her review/tutorial:
Thank you for saying it for us all, Lushious…..where in the hell is this shade that the box is covered in? Give us this color!!!!!!
I’m expecting to get a more vibrant range of colors, centered around the color of the palette, but it didn’t happen. Don’t get me wrong, the palette is beautiful with a even number of mattes and shimmers (girl, that looks like glitter), but where I think the palette missed the mark is with delivering what we were expecting when we saw the shade color and mood the palette cover gave us.
Make sure to check out Lushious Massacr on Youtube and follow her to see her sickening looks on Instagram. Being that she’s from the south like me, I love to see my beautiful people giving us life and sharing their artistry with the world.
*Thank you to all of my subscribers and fans overseas and followers from Polyvore and UrStyle. I love you all 😍😍😍
Don’t think that you know French fashion designer Liz Vandal? If you’ve been to Cirque du Soleil’s show Ovo, you have seen her work. Starting her official career as a fashion designer in 1988, this French Canadian designed the for likes of the Backstreet Boys and The Washington Ballet.
While being a self-taught designer, Vandal is said to have created ‘Ovo‘ elaborate costumes with inspiration from the innovative designers Issey Miyake and Pierre Cardin. According to her official website, “2018 will see two major productions with Vandal costumes : “The Wizard of OZ” premiering in October 2018 and “Alice in Wonderland” presented by the Honk Kong Ballet”. So, have you come across your favorite beauty products and then stumble across others that may seem to be better than the ones you love???? Just shocking! Here are some of my favorites and some I just happened to find on the Internet.
One of my shockers I stumbled across. Sigma Beauty is a company not carried by Ulta or Sephora so in the United States, its pretty tricky to get them without going to the official website. Their Sigma Holographic Lipgloss is show stopper!!!!! The colors are vibrant, luscious, and made to come for the children 😱 🦄
MARVELOUS MOXIE BY BARE MINERALS
With this gorgeous color shifting beauty, I feel like Bare Minerals overheard the beauty community talking about how their colors are all so very neutral but keep putting out new palettes and lipsticks. Like honey……thank you for the switch because I am LIVING for this color!
MOTIVES COSMETICS LIPGLOSS
OMG, are you seeing the bling and shine from the lipgloss form Motives Cosmetics??? It looks like a cross between Roman glass and New Year’s Eve. Motives Cosmetics is known for their amazing lip collection, although you can’t just ‘walk’ into your local beauty store in the United States and pick it up, but I assure you, it’s worth the hunt. Girl, you don’t have to hunt, I got the website for you right here 💃🏽
